Reckless Space Pirates Game Goes Live

Reckless Space Pirates
Reckless Space Pirates

Rachel Zakuta’s online adventure game Reckless Space Pirates, was published by Choose Your Own Game in April of 2014.

In this game, you have been kidnapped by space pirates on their way to a forbidden planet. Will you join them and plunder an alien colony? Or will you resist, and save the aliens from the rampaging pirates?

(You can download Reckless Space Pirates for very little money at the App Store, Google Play, or Amazon).

An explanation of how Rachel wrote and edited this game and worked with the folks at Choice of Games to get it published was detailed on The Next Phase blog’s post: You Can Choose to be a Reckless Space Pirate.

The members of SpaceCrafts were part of the editing process and we all played the game multiple times as Rachel developed it.  We’re thrilled for Rachel as Reckless Space Pirates goes live. We had fun. You will, too.

Elf Hill Accepted in Magical Anthology

Aline Kaplan’s short story, “Elf Hill,” which was reviewed earlier by SpaceCrafts members, will be published this year.  Aline heard yesterday that “Elf Hill” has been accepted in an anthology of short stories entitled, Magical: An Anthology  of Fantasy, Fairy Tales, and Other Magical Fiction for Adults.

Magical: An Anthology of Fantasy Fairy Tales and Other Magical Fiction for Adults, Kelly Ann JacobsonShe was notified of her story’s acceptance by the anthology’s editor, Kelly Ann Jacobson, author of Cairo in White and the Zaniyah Trilogy.

In putting together the anthology, the editors were looking  for “pieces of exceptional magical fiction written in a literary style that are as entertaining and spellbinding as stories for children but are written at an adult level.”

A guest judge will choose one winner from a blind reading of the book, and that winner will receive a check for $150 and two contributor copies. Two runners-up will receive $25 and one contributor copy, and all other writers included in the book will receive one free contributor copy. –
